Birch Point Beach State Park

We moved to Rockland about a year ago and discovered many beautiful areas that not many people speak of. One of those places is an a secluded beach in Owl's Head, Maine called Birch Point Beach State Park. It's not an easy find and the beach is not known as one of Maine's best, however, we found it and it's a total hidden gem. During the summer, tourists and locals swarm here, but it's still not that crowded. With a long sandy beach and many large, smooth rocks to lounge on, there is plenty of space for all.

This early September day left us alone on a beautiful fall day. The leaves are changing and the tourists are gone...well almost. The leaf season brings almost as many people as the summer season. And for good reason.

The tide covers different parts of the rocks every time we are there. That makes it look like a new place, something we haven't seen before. If we had the time, we would sit here and watch the tide go all the way out. It's way better than tv or ipad stuff.

If the beach isn't gorgeous enough, there is a trail through the woods along the water with beautiful views with trees and water and rocks, oh my!

There are so many amazing wonders to find in nature. Moss is the carpet in the forest. I always wanted to make a moss bathmat to create my own forest in my bathroom.

It seems like we're walking through a fantasy movie when we see the lighting on the trees, with the colors. It's just so peaceful.

We never have enough time to spend here. It's always off to work, gotta make the money. It's easy to forget to stop and smell the flowers sometimes. So on the way home, I had Matteo roll down his window and as I leaned over to shoot this photo realized that I do sometimes remember to slow down. After all, that's why we moved to Maine.
