Wine tasting and a view

Cellardoor winery's vineyard is located in Lincolnville and they have their retail store in Rockport, Maine. This business is run beautifully and you can tell the owner cares about her product and brand by the way she walks around with a smile on her face ensuring everyone's happiness around her. The people who work there are relaxed and grateful to be there.  They genuinely care about their job and patrons. Also, the craftsmanship of the building is beautiful.
The Ceiling.

The winery gets a lot of their grapes from the west coast, which is certainly ok with me. I have also met the wine makers, Aaron and Ceci, who are people that care about their craft. They work tirelessly to achieve a product they can be proud of. I have visited many wine regions around the world and these wines are definitely on a first rate level, especially for Maine.

Cellardoor winery offers free tastings daily, and/or you can get a glass and sit on the beautiful patio and soak in the views of the vineyard and surrounding mountains. FOR FREE! With the fall breeze and a nice glass of wine, it's hard to remember you had any problems.

Every Sunday during the summer season, in addition to their regular wine tasting, Cellardoor Winery offers food and wine pairings.                                                                                This particular time it was State of Maine cheese company with whom we are very familiar. The owner Cathy is as sweet as they come. She is the real deal, a human being that helps others out.
We used to have our food cart in her farmer's market on Saturday mornings, 9am-noon outside of her quaint store right on route 1. Her store offers an assortment of cheeses made in her facility as well as other local cheeses from nearby farms. The store also has many Maine made product. Hats, scarves, and mittens sewn from local alpaca wool. No killing required! It amazes me that we can actually work with nature to get what we need rather than raping and pillaging it.

 But back to the view...

After the delicious tasting, we headed out for a nearby hike, where we saw evidence of the fall foliage. I really believe we are in one of the most spectacular places to witness the beauty of this awesome change.

The hikes are marked and range from easy to very difficult. We have done almost all of the trails in Camden and each more beautiful than the next. We have an awesome map that is is water resistant, but it doesn't always show the correct path. It's all good, it's an adventure.
Matteo loves to see where we're at on the map. I'm just making sure I don't break my ankle and fall on my face. It would really suck for him to carry me all the way down the mountain.

It's always totally worth it once we get the to top. There are lake and ocean views that can't be beat. It's invigorating to climb up a mountain and get to the top to see where you are on this earth. You are just a tiny speck on a majestic planet that offers all the beauty you can possibly handle.
Each way you look, you see a calm, peaceful area of nature and all you can hear is the wind and the leaves rustling.

We came back home and on the way picked up some local lobster to make lobster rolls. I made some lobster roll type buns and Matteo made a garlicky slaw of cabbage and carrots. We put it all together and made one tasty lobster roll, for a fraction of the cost!

YUMMY!
