This can be anything from giddy, to cranky, to something you can't even describe in an "electronic emotion". Yet, somehow, you feel compelled to try to accurately describe your "current" state of being in one sentence. In this modern day of cyberspace, you can now learn about the "status" of all of your friends' (people you know on myspace), even though you haven't spoken to them in years. A bit of insight to those you don't even know or haven't seen.
Of course there is a positive and a negative in this...the yin and yang, as all things in the universe. We're all still connected by these little bits of information, almost comforted by the fact we know what's going on in each other's lives. In reality, it's just an electronic message of how we're feeling that moment, for those who even update it. And for those that don't update it, rings a bell of confusion....what's wrong??? It becomes almost like spying, looking into the lives of those you were once involved with. Where is the meaning in all of that if there is no physical connection, a real knowledge and concern for them?
Have we entered a time where physical connection is no longer needed? We work, we play and we lose ourselves in the game. Times are changing so fast that we don't even stop to realize that we have all be come DISCONNECTED. People are now labeling themselves in these electronic tidbits verses how others used to classify you. When I was younger, it was goth, skater, punk, rocker, morbid beast...or whatever term was "in" that week. Even now, people look to this classification to try to fit into. I never understood how someone could just commit to who they were rather than continue to explore and grow into who they were constantly becoming.
I guess I can never find which particular emotion fits me, which is good. It's never just one thing, one emotion, or feeling. How is it that I can classify my life in one sentence and a silly computer emotion. Do people really care? Is this minuscule of information enough??? Deep inside we all have the desire to see what's happening in each others lives and this electronic space, devoid of all emotion has to communicate how we feel. Is that really enough to make a real human connection???
