Amsterdam Day 1 Photos

After looking through the 715 photos I took in the 2 days in Amsterdam, I was left with a tight edit for facebook/flickr and now for the blog I have narrowed it down even further. Technological things and items have not been working well for me lately. I have been rendered slightly useless and I have to use is this shitty computer that takes forever to do anything. Quality, not Quantity my friends is what's important here. I'm just going to try to highlight the trip with the photos and from what I can remember, since my journal was one of the items stolen. Nothing fancy here folks, for the exception of my rants.

We left for New York in the evening and saw the sun setting on that one day. When the plane was landing in Amsterdam, we saw the sun rising for a new day, all in one rotation, but it was the same day for us. It really makes you very aware of how everything is moving all at once. The earth was rotating and we were chasing the sun.

Since it was an overnight flight, we arrive to a minimally busting Amsterdam (Monday's are not that busy) without any sleep. Luckily our hotel, Hotel Kap let us keep our baggage there until we were able to check in, and hooked us up with some much needed coffee which was very helpful. There was no time to waste, so we set off to explore the beautiful city of Amsterdam.

The hotel was awesome...and had a great little balcony area looking out onto a quiet street. Bathroom and shower included!!!

The famous floating flower market:

In the evening, it began to rain, but it was still perfect for exploring the city, my particular favorite. My super duper rain jacket kept me dry and it wasn't too cool out, so I was happy and comfortable. The rain didn't seem to keep anyone else indoors...

Even across the Atlantic Ocean, in Europe, construction is still HUGE, maybe even bigger. There are cranes everywhere making a significantly bold statement in the skyline. Everything is constantly being rebuilt and fixed. It did look amazing at night...from a safe distance of course.
